The Story of Stuff Critique Video Analysis

Part 2

In this video HowTheWorldWorks critiques the video of Annie Leonard, the host of the story of stuff and currently working in Greenpeace. He mainly states that some of the sources of Annie are not reliable to show to the schools, one of the most noticeable critiques is when Annie states ” more than half of our federal tax money is going now to the military”. In which HowTheWorlWorks backs up this not true fact by showing where she got the source and their unreliability, the website is War Register League. He also investigates where she got the information from and sees if they are reliable or they should not be applied in videos which will be shown in classrooms as she “misinterprets”  most of the information, such as the constitution of the USA where she says “the government should take care of us” and it actually is to promote the general welfare, this is just some of the many examples she misinterprets some information.

This keeps going on until the video finishes, she keeps saying facts that “don’t make sense” to HowTheWorlWorks and he keeps arguing his points with facts and information about the matter. However, this is only the first part as this is a continuing series of four parts.

I think HowTheWorlWorks makes arguable points with backup information which was also easy to understand, this video changed my point of view about Annie’s video, but I think she was trying to exaggerate her reaction, that way the viewers’ reaction would greater and hopefully changed their way of thinking. Overall, I think both arguable points but HowTheWorldWorks made a bigger impact on my reaction and way of thinking than Annie did.
